My career story

My career journey began with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Chicago, which laid the foundation for a career that would combine social impact with effective communication.

For five years, I dedicated my skills to the National League of Cities, working at the intersection of marketing, communications, and public policy to advance advocacy and membership goals. One of my proudest achievements was serving as the lead speechwriter for the Congress of Cities keynote speeches, crafting compelling narratives for influential figures like former mayors Chris Coleman of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and Ralph Becker of Salt Lake City.

In 2016, a personal tragedy — the loss of my brother — became the catalyst for change. Heeding the call of my heart, I embarked on a new chapter, launching my own marketing and communications practice. This venture allowed me to work closely with nonprofit institutions and startups, providing comprehensive digital marketing solutions.

The summer of 2023 marked another pivotal moment in my career. I decided to close my private practice and join Evidence In Motion, where I now lead a newly established marketing communications function.

My career values

Throughout my career, I've been guided by a strong belief in the power of design. I'm convinced that we create better outcomes by envisioning the end goal from the start.

This philosophy shapes my approach to every project: "What will be true if we're successful in this work?" It's a question that drives innovation and ensures purposeful action in all my endeavors.

It's a journey of continuous learning, creativity, and impact - one that I'm excited to share and develop further with each new opportunity and challenge.

My hobbies

Outside of work, I prioritize creative practice and community.

I spend time behind my Nikon Z6, exploring photography as a way to sharpen observation and composition. I also enjoy hiking and travel, which help me reset and approach problems with fresh perspective.

I’m active in local community spaces and support my partner wife's pop-up retail work. That balance keeps me grounded and brings focus and energy to my professional work.
